The Bible uses light and darkness as imagery in the prologue of John, in 1 John 1, and in the Sermon on the Mount.
In John 1:5:
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
In 1 John 1:5:
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
In Matthew 5:14:
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
