What does the Bible say about the fear of the Lord?

The “fear of the LORD” is called the beginning of wisdom in Proverbs and the whole duty of man in Ecclesiastes.

In Proverbs 9:10:

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

In Proverbs 1:7:

⁷ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

In Ecclesiastes 12:13:

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
