Structurally, the Old Testament is the first 39-book section of the Bible, written in Hebrew (with some Aramaic) before the time of Jesus; the New Testament is the following 27-book section, written in Koine Greek in the first century.

The Old Testament centers on the history and writings of ancient Israel, and the New Testament centers on Jesus of Nazareth and the early church.
