Ezra was a priest and scribe who led a group of Jewish exiles from Babylon back to Jerusalem in the reign of the Persian king Artaxerxes, recorded in the book of Ezra.
Ezra 7:6 in the King James Version reads:
This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
The verse appears in Ezra 7, at the start of the account of Ezra's return. Read it in context at Ezra 7:6, or the full chapter at Ezra 7. Encyclopedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ezra.
