1 John 4:8
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
The King James Version presents love as a defining attribute of God and as the summary of the commandments, from the Great Commandment in the Gospels to Paul's description in 1 Corinthians 13.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
19We love him, because he first loved us.
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
34A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.10Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
8And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
17A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38This is the first and great commandment.39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
