John 16:33 in the King James Version reads:
33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
What it says
Jesus warns his disciples of coming persecution and his departure, promises the Holy Spirit's guidance, and assures them of peace through tribulation because he has overcome the world.
